RENOWNED for its beautiful scenery and welcoming atmosphere, Cumbria regularly attracts star names.

A host of famous faces visited the county last year. Here is a selection.

Honey G: The former X Factor star, whose real name is Anna Gilford, visited the Lake District in May. She posted a picture to her Instagram account of herself in cycling gear.

Gary Lineker: Football legend and Match of the Day presenter Lineker was pictured on a boat on Windermere in June.

Olly Murs: World-famous singer-songwriter Murs was in the Lake District in June to raise money for suicide prevention charity Samaritans. He climbed 24 peaks in 24 hours in memory of TV presenter Caroline Flack.

Jack P. Shepherd: The Coronation Street star took a boat trip on Windermere in July.

Owain Wyn Evans: The BBC weatherman visited Milnthorpe in August, playing the drums and performing with Milnthorpe Steel Band.

The Duchess of Cambridge: Kate went mountain biking and abseiling at Cathedral Quarry, Little Langdale, in September. She then spent her afternoon aboard a boat on Windermere, chatting to two of the surviving 'Windermere Children', a group of youngsters who were brought from the horrors of the Holocaust to live in Cumbria in 1945.

Sarah Jayne Dunn: The Hollyoaks actress visited The Swan Hotel and Spa at Newby Bridge in September.

Sam Thompson: The Made in Chelsea star was pictured at Romneys pub in Kendal in September.

Tyson Fury: The heavyweight boxer was pictured at Romneys in Kendal in October.

Simon Reeve: A TV show, The Lakes with Simon Reeve, which aired in November, saw the adventurer and author head to Barrow to see nuclear submarines and visit Women's Community Matters. In the Lake District, he chatted to farmers and to campaigners trying to protect red squirrels.

Chris Packham: The TV naturalist visited Piel Island with stepdaughter Megan McCubbin in July as part of filming for the third episode of BBC show Chris and Meg's Wild Summer, which aired in September.

Bonehead: The rhythm guitarist and founding member of Oasis, real name Paul Arthurs, visited Kendal's Microdot Boutique store in December.
