SOME of Cumbria's missing people have not been seen for decades.

There are six people listed by police as missing, with the public urged to get in touch with any information they have.

The charity Missing People keeps a list of people from all over the country who disappeared and are still considered missing by police.

While many missing people are found by police in a matter of hours or days, these people having sadly not been seen for a number of years.

 

Anthony Bond

Barrow man Anthony Bond went missing at the age of 40 in 2012 and was last spotted near to the Tally Ho pub in at around 11pm on the night of November 9.

Mr Bond has a number of tattoos, including a Tasmanian Devil and Tweety Pie on his arms. He also has a design on his left shoulder blade featuring a head with flames and smoke.

 

Mark Coulthard

Mark Coulthard was 22 when he went missing.

The Carlisle man was reported missing in 2006.

 

Leanne Smith

Whitehaven's Leanne Smith was reported missing in 2019 aged 26.

She was last seen leaving her home in Whitehaven at about 6pm on September 15 of last year.

She was said to be wearing a blue coat and carrying a handbag, with black shoulder-length hair in a ponytail.

 

Glenn Dawes

Glenn Dawes, of Carlisle, was reported missing in 2017, then aged 65.

He was last seen at his home address on Ashness Drive, Carlisle, on November 22.

 

Marcus Rigby

Grange-over-Sands man Marcus Rigby has been missing for more than 25 years, according to an appeal.

He was reported missing in 1995, then aged 27.

 

Lewis Norton

Lewis Norton, of Carlisle, was tragically reported missing in 2017. He was 44 at the time.

A Cumbria Police spokesman explained how officers investigate long-term disappearances.

“The priority with any missing person is to locate them safe and well," the spokesman said.

“In a case where someone has been missing for a long period of time, their cases remain open and are reviewed.

“When we receive new information on a long-term missing person we will conduct further enquires on that piece of information.”
