BARROW Raiders have seen the arrival of a new squad player as well as the departure of another.

The Raiders have recently seen the departure of Jamie Dallimore who announced his decision due to family commitments.

Dallimore has recently seen the birth of his son and plans to focus on his family’s future.

The club, as well as coach Paul Crarey, have wished Dallimore the best in his future and understand his decision to focus on his commitments.

Paul Crarey said: “Jamie couldn’t commit at this time which we understand as he’s got a young family and there was a lot of travelling involved for him.

“He phoned the club, explained everything to us and asked if we could stop his money.

“He had been unable to come down for the past few weeks which was a shame.

“He’s been a great asset for the team and we wish him all the best in the future.

“We will have to try and get on as best we can without him, and on that we will be seeing Carter and Johnson moving up to fill that void that he left.

“They’re both great lads and they have developed so much, and we’re also looking for a new front row to finish off the squad.”

Barrow Raiders have also recently announced the signing of former Super League half-back Jarrod Sammut for the 2022 Betfred Championship season.

Sammut will make up part of Crarey’s squad in the run up for their second vision camping which will take place in the coming year.

Sammut has made more than 250 career appearances, including stints with Penrith Panthers, Bradford Bulls, London Broncos, Leigh Centurions and Wigan Warriors.

He has also won six caps in the international stage for Malta and brings a wealth of experience to the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium.

Paul added: “We’re glad to have Jarrod with us.

“He’s played at a high level for a long time and he’s got a lot of experience.

“He’s similar to Jamie in terms of style and experience which we will benefit from.

“He’s unbelievably fit for his age.

“He’s also recently completed a close protection course as an armed guard which is another thing he has under his belt.

“He’s a match winner and is very out of the box.

“He’s got the heart to play so we think he will make a big difference with things.

“Training is going well for us and we’ve got some great direction with the squad.”

Barrow Raiders Ladies have also seen a new signing as former Wigan winger Christina Tully has joined the squad for their upcoming 2022 Betfred Women’s Super League season.

Tully is also a physiotherapist for the NHS and has represented the England Deaf Rugby.
