A LOCAL man took it upon himself to offer free haircuts for residents at the Furness Homeless Support Group.

Jordan Chubb, 28, from Barrow offered to cut residents hair in time for Christmas for the support group, having previously been helped by the charity himself.

He was supported by Carolanne McInally who kindly offered to help him on the day.

Jordan, who was born in Barrow, came to the charity after finding himself homeless. After being supported by members of staff he was inspired to go to University in Cardiff and now works as a barber, as well as a manager at the Pulse Football Centre.

Jordan said: "We did the haircuts on Tuesday and it went really well.

"It was nice to go back there and have a catch up with the people and the members of staff. It's just a nice place to be.

"There were only about five people there as it was a bit last minute, although we still enjoyed it. Carolanne and me did the haircuts.

"It may seem little but a good hair cut costs about £12, and that can mean a present or a meal for some people so it's good to save that for them. Also, it’s a real confidence boost when you get a new haircut I feel.

"I was helped by the charity when I was going through a tough time so I really wanted to give something back. I was planning a few other things like maybe a fundraiser of some sort, but we'll probably have to wait until new year with Covid.

"It's such a great charity so if anyone ever can help them, they really should. It does so much good."
