A ROCK climbing Gym has revealed a new bouldering route.

The Wall, is Ulverston's first climbing wall and to launch the new route The Wall was visited by David Mason and James Garde.

David, a world renowned coach is the Co-Manager of the GB Bouldering Team and James competed on the British Bouldering Team for over a decade and he now sets routes for national competitions and at climbing walls nationwide.

On social media, The Wall said: "Between them they have brought great vibes and a wealth of climbing and setting experience to The Wall. We hope you enjoy the fresh, fun climbs they created today as much as we enjoyed making them for you!"

Owner of The Wall Joe Holden has been climbing since he was 17, on why they have laid out the new route, he said: "Climbing walls reset the route regularly and with it being the winter time that is the busiest time for us as a business so as a special treat for all our members we thought we would get some of the best setters in the world in to do it."

Each climbing wall has different difficultly levels, when using the wall climbers will follow coloured holds and each colour represents a difficulty.

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing performed on small rock formations or artificial rock walls without the use of ropes or harnesses.

On why David and James came down to The Wall, Joe said: "David was my coach on my university climbing team and he is a world renowned coach and James is someone i have heard of, he is a really good climber and amazing setter.

"It was brilliant, we had loads of fun, the climbing community are a group of really cool people . It's one of the most accepting and opening communities you can find in a sport."

The Wall has launched a ladies night which will take place once a month, the idea came about after the team received feedback that some customers wanted to go down to the club when there would be just women climbing the wall.
