A FEMALE Youtuber has been awarded runner up for her social media content in a national motorbike award.

SaffySprocket, ran by Saffron Sheriff, from Ulverston, has been recognised in the Motorbike TV Peoples' Awards for best motorbike social media channel beating well established Youtubers with thousands of subscribers.

Saffron, 29, said: “I was super excited when I heard the news especially because I was amongst winners who were very well established. The channel I beat is very big in the industry also.

“Both of these channels were my idols so it’s very unique and kind of surreal.”

Saffron found out in a live stream award ceremony that she had also received third runner up for most influential female rider.

She said: “I didn’t expect to be placed in that category at all especially because it wasn’t a case of multiple choice - people had to suggest who they wanted to win.

“I’m hoping now to inspire more people who are interested in biking and reach my goal of 30,000 subscribers by the end of next year.

“I’ve had a lot of interest from big name companies for sponsors, it’s just all in the pipeline.”

Saffron only discovered her love for motorcycles after Covid and decided she was going to document her journey on Youtube after she self-taught how to edit and shoot videos.

She said: “It’s mainly women in their mid 20’s who watch my channel because they are interested in starting motorbiking too.

“There is a massive deficit in the industry between men and women who bike because typically men grow up around it with their dad or older brothers biking but us women we learn by ourselves because how do we find out about hobbies when we don’t know anyone that does them?

“So I’m glad I can inspire people and hopefully push at more women getting into it.”
