THE Students of Oversands School took on the challenge of cycling 20 miles around Coniston Water to raise £652.60 for St Mary’s Hospice.

On November 6, a group of students from the Grange-over-Sands based school were challenged to the limit by cycling around Coniston to support a local charity. Karen Appleby, Care Manager along with her staff team arranged the bike ride for the young people, who completed the challenge all while pushing their own limits.

Becky Brown, area fundraiser for St Mary's Hospice, said: “We are so pleased with the success of Oversands’ challenge.

"It is always incredible to see young people getting involved and supporting the Hospice.

"We are so proud of the school and the young people who took on the challenge and can’t thank them enough.”

St Mary’s provides free supportive and palliative care for people who are living with a life shortening illness or long term condition such as cancers, neurological conditions, respiratory and heart disease, and for their families, carers and loved ones.
