THE Government's High Streets Task Force has visited Barrow to help address the issues blocking change in the town.

Experts from the High Streets Task Force delivered a workshop for senior council, business, and community leaders.

And following the visit last month, they have submitted a report of their findings to help inform plans for regeneration and support the local community to address the issues that are blocking change in the town.

The visit and expert report are part of a package of support that Barrow will continue to receive after it was selected by the Government in April as one of 70 places to work directly with the High Streets Task Force.

Barrow Lad said: "Should address the issue of letting property owners allowing buildings to fall into disrepair blighting the look of the town. Examples such as the House of Lords creates a depressing picture. Create some more green areas. Change the law to allow clearly abandoned buildings be cleared. Yes, there is some cost involved, but get it done."

Dalton said: "Landlords and on-line shoppers."

Mrs Long said: "The footfall would increase if there was a variety of shops to visit. Things have changed on the high street forever. You must stop filling the Town Centre with food outlets, and Charity shops. There are far too many, and like you have already pointed out no footfall."

Judge and Jury said: "It's simple lower rent and rates and let people have a chance of making a living. Plus, barrow council are useless they make life difficult businesses full stop."

Jimbo's said: "About 10 years too late, Barrow's town centre is finished."
