Cumbria and Lancashire health bosses launch 'Thank You Care Week'

‘Thank You Care Week’ has been created to celebrate and recognise the outstanding care which has, and continues to be, delivered by the whole of the care sector; including care homes, care in the home, supported living and day care services, and to raise awareness of the important contributions staff make in caring for people across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

The week-long activity, commencing on December 6, will shine a light on the inspirational care workers who empower and support those living in the region and give the public an opportunity to show their appreciation for individuals working in the care sector.

Care workers spend their careers supporting other people so it’s important that they are also given the support they deserve.

Louise Taylor, Executive Director of Adult Services and Health & Wellbeing, Lancashire County Council on behalf of all members of the Adult Social Care and Health Partnership Board, said “A huge thank you to all those who work in the care sector from your colleagues in local authorities and the NHS in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

"Your contribution is always so important and has been exceptional during this pandemic. Your professionalism and your passion for doing what is right and safe for some of our most vulnerable citizens is incredible and also humbling.

"What you do matters, as do the people you take the time to care for.”

Jane Brennan, Chief Nurse for Regulated Care for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership and Chief Nurse for Chorley and South Ribble and Greater Preston CCGs said: “We have witnessed the high quality and compassionate care you have all provided whilst continuing to face the reality of Covid-19 and its impact on services, those you care for and worked alongside, and your own personal journey.

"This is something you should be incredibly proud of.

I certainly feel that pride in you all and we continue to recognise the contribution you have made, as you always have, and the importance of the care you provide.

"We will continue to support you over the coming months and beyond as our extended NHS family. To each and every one of you –Thank You."

Adam Purnell, Director of Social Care at the IHSCM said “Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care Partnership have really shown how to work together as joint sectors to celebrate those working in care.

"The IHSCM and I are pleased to have been involved in the inception and design of the first Lancashire and South Cumbria wide thank you initiative for our social care workforce. We want to recognise everyone from housekeepers to cooks, from managers to care workers, activity coordinators to social care nurses from the entire social care sector.

"The last 20 months have been incredibly difficult physically and emotionally and it’s time we take a minute to say thank you. Thank you for all your incredible work, your passion, and your dedication.”
