Three apprentices from BAE Systems Submarines have made it into the finals of the prestigious Make UK Awards.

The awards aim to showcase and highlight excellence among apprentices in UK-based manufacturing companies and manufacturers.

Just 12 submarine apprentices were recognised at the North West regional heat this year.

The three apprentices going through to the finals in London will be Hannah Kassell in the Rising Star - Business Apprentice category, Mike Glover in the Rising Star - Engineering Apprentice category and Kaylee McIsaac in the Apprentice Endeavour Award category.

The final will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, London.

It will be the first time that the award ceremony has been held in person since the start of the pandemic.

Phil Athersmith, BAE Systems Submarines head of early careers delivery, said: "Our apprentices are some of the best in the UK so it was great to see that we were well represented in a range of different categories at the Make UK regional heat.

"Congratulations to all the nominees and good luck to Hannah, Mike and Kaylee in the national final."
