CUMBRIA County Council has launched its ‘winter ready’ campaign to support businesses and residents for the coming season.

This year’s campaign will reflect the ongoing Coronavirus public health information and guidance, as well as winter travel and weather preparations.

A wide range of information about winter-related items is available on County Council’s webpage: Winter Ready 2021.

Winter Ready 2021 seeks to ensure people have the right information, advice and guidance at their fingertips.

It has been developed, and is supported by a wide range of partners, including Cumbria County Council, Cumbria’s six district councils, NHS, Cumbria Community Foundation and the Environment Agency.

The campaign includes emergency planning, general advice and winter travel.

Councillor Keith Little, Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: “In recent years we have seen severe winter weather impact on communities in Cumbria.

"It is important we take some simple steps to prepare for Winter - from getting a flu or a Covid booster jab, to checking over your vehicle.

“Cumbria County Council is prepared and ready to respond, whatever the weather throws at us this winter. The dedicated Winter Ready web pages are a one-stop platform with links and handy tips and advice to help all of Cumbria’s residents, businesses and visitors.”

Cllr Deborah Earl, the county council’s Cabinet member for Public Health and Community Services, said: “I’m pleased to be involved in the important Winter Ready campaign again this year.

"Ensuring that our communities have all of the most up to date and accessible information in one place, which helps to provide people with all of the advice and guidance they need to get through the winter months.”
