Barrow Raiders star Ryan Johnston has signed a new one-year deal with the club for the 2022 Betfred Championship campaign.

Johnston was the club’s first ever signing from the Furness Raiders academy team, having previously plied his trade at Dalton ARLFC.

“Barrow is the club where I feel at home, so it was a no-brainer,” the half-back said.

“It was just about finding the right deal for myself, my family and the club.

“I’ve been part of the journey for the past four years and I’ve got nothing but tunnel vision for this year to help take the club as far as it can go.

“Paul, Rev, Steve and Andy Gaffney have put together what I feel is the strongest team yet and I can’t wait to get back among it with the lads and fans.

“The place is going to be buzzing.”

On the new deal, head coach Paul Crarey added: “Ryan is another academy and local rugby league product who has improved year on year.

“He brings something a little different to the table, whether playing in the halves or on occasion playing as a hooker.

“He is always a threat in attack and a lad who is working very hard on improving his defensive duties.

“He has a great attitude to training and has established himself as a valuable member of the squad.”
