Barrow Raiders have confirmed the retention of pivotal half-back Jamie Dallimore for the 2022 Betfred Championship campaign.

Dallimore, 33, has been with the Raiders since 2016 and has been a key figure in Paul Crarey’s side.

“I didn’t want to play anywhere else,” he said.

“The group of players we have here are special and mean a lot to me.

"The coaching staff have looked after me since day one.

"My family are happy and I’m happy.

“The squad is shaping up nicely. I played with Danny Langtree at Oldham and against him.

"He’s a very good player. He’s a well-established Championship player and a great lad.

"He goes about his business very quietly but on the field he is one of the best back-rowers.

“The squad is healthy.

"The whole back-line is full of potential.

"We are a strong squad and everyone will be fighting for a spot.

"It’s a good mix of young and old and it should be a good year next season.

“A major thing why I re-signed was because the fans have been good to me and my family since day one in 2016.

“They’ve been good to me and my family and are very good to the club. They turn up in numbers and it’s massive for the club.

"Hopefully this year with the calibre of teams coming to Craven Park, we’re looking to push 2,000 at every home game.”

On the re-signing, head coach Paul Crarey added: “Jamie receives offers from both Championship and League 1 clubs on a regular basis, and the fact he chooses to stay with us year-on-year speaks volumes about his commitment to Barrow.

“A fierce competitor both in training and on the field, Dally is a proven match winner either with the boot or ball in hand.

“He will continue to mentor our younger half-backs and is a great character to have around.”

Players director Andy Gaffney said: “Jamie is a very important part of the squad and it was important to retain such a key player.

“He had originally re-signed on a two-year deal in 2020, but had a clause in his contract that stated if we got promoted, it would be re-negotiated.

“Despite interest from elsewhere, I’m glad to get the business done with Jamie and see him again at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium in 2022.”
