BARROW Raiders are thrilled to confirm the re-signing of Danny Morrow for the 2022 Betfred Championship campaign.

The forward originally joined us from Walney ARLFC, and says he is excited to have agreed to a new deal for the upcoming season.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to play another season for the Raiders,” he said.

“Barrow has been my club for the past six years. It’s my hometown and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I’ve played with the majority of the lads all my career and we’ve become a very tight-knit unit.

“I’m thankful to Andy Gaffney especially, but also to everyone else that’s again put their confidence in me as a player to contribute in what will certainly be a challenging competition.

“I know there will have been plenty of talented stock attracted to the club and prepared to travel with all the great things happening, so it’s a pleasure to again get the opportunity to sign for such an ambitious club and be accommodated by the fantastic community that surrounds it.

“Steve Neale, the board and everyone else involved with the club have gone above what anyone could have expected from a League 1 club in such difficult times for the sport as a whole.

“They continue to grow and it’s exciting to think what next season will bring with the club’s vision and appetite.

“I’m eager to get stuck in with the lads again now. I’m rested up and ready to get back to peak fitness.

“I feel like last year I had a good consistent run of games. I know I don’t look as young as I did when I had a healthy hairline, but my body feels great and I’m excited for the physical challenges Championship rugby brings to the table.

“I think our aim for this season is to finish in the top half of the table. I think with the quality of players we have and under the direction of Paul, Steve, Carl and Paddy, we can finish at the top.

“That’s my ambition as a player and I’m sure the club will strive to agree.”

On the new deal, the second of the day following the re-signing of Bradd Crellin, head coach Paul Crarey said: “Danny played some of the best rugby of his career last season with a number of man of the match performances.

“He thought about retirement but has decided to play on which we are obviously pleased about and he will contribute throughout the season.”
