BARROW'S Christmas Lights Switch will see a live concert and a host of special guest appearances for the 2021 show.

Taking place on November 20 in the town square, this years much anticipated show includes some of the very best local, singers and performers including Claire Charlotte Ball, JD and Swerve, Zac Thompson, Paris Corkill, Kev Thompson, South Lakes Rock School, and others.

There will also be guest appearances from the Shone Productions Beauty and the beast Pantomine cast and Laser Lights Alive.

A special appearance will also be made by Lisa Hart, best known for her role as Elsa in Disney's Frozen franchise.

Co-volunteer organiser Denis Horan who is hosting the event said “We are delighted to be able to put on this event and bring some christmas cheer after a dark couple of years for many.

“We are very thankful to everybody who has helped put this together and hope we can kick start some much needed smiles and happiness."

The winner of the Switch On star nominations will get to press the button for the tower and turn the lights on at 6pm on the evening.

The public are welcomed to cast their votes for who will be the one to switch the lights on this year.

To cast a vote visit the Barrow Christmas Lights Switch On page.

Denis added: “Santa has very kindly said he may pop down and walk about and meet people, we want to do it as safe as possible so Santa will be having a Covid test beforehand and is willing to walk around and say hello to all the boys and girls and get a few selfies rather than visit him in a grotto this year.

“We can’t have him being unwell over Christmas, that would be awful” said Denis who urged people to come down earlier in the day and join in the festive fun.

“We will have Barrow Male Voice Choir singing in the Forum Café and then we will have some children's disco music outside before the main event kicks off."

Following lockdown, the return of the full festive occasion has been long awaited by the community.

The event will be supported by both BAE and Barra Culture.
