NEW research from has revealed the areas across the U.K. that have fallen foul of rogue builders and scams, and Barrow has one of the highest number of scam complaints.

By analysing figures from Citizens Advice’s ‘Consumer Advice Trends’, Clothes2order research revealed that Barrow was found to be the local authority with the 6th most complaints around possible scams per 100,000 people at 137.9 (92 in total).

The only places in the UK with more complaints than Barrow per 100,000 are Wyre (182.2), Blackpool (170.5), the Isle of Anglesey in Wales (166.1), South Tyneside (148.2), and Stockport (140.7).

The Clothes2order website does say that majority of builders and tradespeople are good, honest professionals and the sector is driving incredible growth within the UK, but just like with any other service, you have to be on your guard against scams and dishonest practices.

While it is only a small minority of bad apples, it’s still important to be wary when having work carried out and look out for reassuring signs that you’re working with a legitimate business.
