BARROW Raiders star Nathan Mossop took a virtual Q&A where he discusses his decision to re-sign, goals for 2022 and how the squad is shaping up for the upcoming campaign.

The hooker was delighted to stay on with the club and relishes the challenge the Championship has to offer.

"I am moving into my 13th season at Barrow now believe it or not, showing my age a bit, but I have been really fortunate to be looked after by the club and they have a fantastic support network," Mossop said.

"They have some passionate fans who come to watch us week in week out. There are people who have travelled to Toronto and to Toulouse to watch us play.

"The decision to stay for 2022 was an easy one and it was more for me being really appreciative of the club to give me that opportunity to play in the Championship.

"It is a tough league with some great sides.

"It is going to be difficult but I am more than confident in the group that we will do alright when we are out there."

Mossop went on to reflect on the season just gone.

"It was a bit of a strange season going from the midst of a Covid pandemic then getting back into rugby league, it was quite a strange transition.

"Obviously successful both off and on the pitch with everything Steve Neale and staff were doing, it was a great place to be around, and you can see how that excitement has travelled around the club," Mossop continued.

"Last season we went to some of the better teams in League1 and got beat away from home which was disappointing.

"But ultimately, it comes down to who wins the most games at the end of the season and we finished at the top of the table.

"You will always reflect and looking back, lifting the trophy with the lads will live long in the memory.

"For me it is about being consistent and I do not want to class myself as an old dog, but it is about looking after myself and turning up week in week out.

"As a club it is to be competitive, and it is going to be a big learning curve for everyone involved.

"As long as we work hard for each other I am sure we will be in good stead."

Mossop went on to speak about the exciting new signings for the club and they believe they will be a big asset to the team ahead of the Championship season.

He also highlighted the younger players who he thinks will have plenty to offer when it comes to the 2022 season and succeeding in the Championship which the whole club is excited for.
