A HOTEL team have launched a successful Coffee Club to help raise money for a special charity.

The team at Holiday Inn Express, Barrow launched their first Coffee Club this week to raise money for St Mary’s Hospice.

The club runs every day from 11am till 4pm where everyone can come in and enjoy a fresh, warm cup of coffee where 20p from every drink sold will be donated to the self-funded hospice.

Robbie Gaffney, marketing manager of the hotel and leader of the Coffee Club campaign said the first day went really well.

He said: “As a hotel we’ve launched the coffee club as not a lot of people know that they can come into the hotel and use the bar even if they are not staying in the hotel, we also want to help gather the community together and support a charity that needs all our help.

“We launched the Coffee Club before Covid and it was quite popular with the residents but we had to stop when restrictions came into place. We wanted to launch again but with a purpose this time and decided on raising money for St Mary’s hospice.

“I’m from Barrow originally and know that St Mary’s Hospice is an important charity for people in the community. It relies on fundraising and donations.

The Coffee Club is hoping to run into the end of 2022 to help raise as much money as possible.

Robbie who started at the hotel when it opened in December 2019 said: “Our coffee is nice and we have cakes too, the atmosphere is really chill and comfortable also.

“A lot of people go into coffee shops in the town and they can get really busy and loud. Our area is quiet and a lot of people have said it’s lovely.”

Clare Paling, Area Fundraising Manager for St Mary’s Hospice said: ‘St Mary’s Hospice relies on businesses like Holiday Inn Express doing their bit to donate and support the work that we do.

“All those 20 pences will soon add up to hundreds and then thousands of pounds, allowing us to keep caring and supporting local patients and their families through the darkest of times.

“Thank you to Robbie and the team for choosing to support the hospice, we hope lots of people will make Coffee Club their regular place for a catch up and guilt free treats!”
