A MOTHER and son will be working opposite each other for the foreseeable future after they occupied stalls in the town's market hall.

Lynda Coleman will be selling crafts and Thian Brodie will be helping people with web development.

They are both pleased to be working in Barrow Market Hall.

Mrs Coleman is hoping to display products 'sourced from local crafters' through her brand new Cosy Cottage Crafts business.

"I have done the craft fairs with people through the years," she said.

"I know how beneficial that can be, but it also can be very hard work.

"So to have a more permanent display for them, in my opinion, is really good."

She invited crafters wanting to display on her stall to visit her in the market. Her stand is situated by the mall entrance, as is her son's.

"I just know that craft brings so much satisfaction to people and people enjoy doing it," she said.

"I wanted to share some of the joy I have had doing it over the years."

Mr Brodie will be opposite her on a stall devoted to his business, Furness Websites.

The business builds, manages and maintains websites for people, with a particular focus on e-commerce.

Mr Brodie said the business could also offer people 'the opportunity and the skills to maintain their own websites'.

Like his mum, he is proud and excited to be working at the market.

"I just thought it's an ideal location," he said.

"It's full of colour, it's got childhood memories for me."

"I just love the feel, the atmosphere and vibe.

"To put my business in the heart of Barrow means everything.

"People are starting to come out more now.

"I think people are coming back to the market."

Mr Brodie, who has been web developing for more than 20 years, warned of the potential pitfalls of using YouTube videos as shortcuts.

"If you find something that's out of date or has the wrong information, it can cause you all sorts of problems," he said.

The market hall is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
