THE Lake District is the overall best destination for couples to enjoy a babymoon getaway, according to new research.

Flowercard has ranked destinations across the UK, based on factors such as the number of romantic hotels, restaurants, and couple activities, to create the ultimate babymoon index and reveal the UK’s best babymoon destinations.

A honeymoon break is a traditional staple of most newly-married couples, but ‘babymoon’ breaks are the latest trend to dominate the holiday industry, with parents-to-be enjoying a final child-free getaway before nappy changes and pushchairs take over.

Ranking in first place is the Lake District, scoring 7.75 out of 10. Famous for its glacial ribbon lakes and rugged fell mountains, the Lakes also has the highest proportion of things to do as a couple (62.72 per 100,000), and romantic restaurants galore (46.85 per 100,000 people).
