CUSTOMERS have flocked to an eco-friendly store which has moved into the town centre.

Environmentally-friendly and zero-waste market stall The Eco Shop was opened in Barrow Market by couple Brian and Barbara Cairns in September 2019 in a bid to give the people of Barrow more options for eco friendly living

The shop provides a variety of household cleaning, body care and gift items, as well as refill stations for toiletries such as shampoo and hand soap.

After expanding their stall, the Cairns continued to build a loyal client base - and decided to open up their own shop in Scott Street.

Two years since first setting up business in Barrow Market, The Eco Shop officially swung open its doors on Wednesday.

Mrs Cairns said the feedback has been 'lovely' from customers who have visited the new base.

She said: "The opening day went really well. A lot of my regular customers came in to the new shop and we were steadily busy throughout the day.

"The move was really easy actually, my family helped me with the transition into the new store which has a lot more space.

"The feedback so far has been lovely from customers. I've seen online that someone said it felt very homely and welcoming which was lovely to hear.

"Hopefully our custom base just keeps growing as more people realise we're in the shop and keep coming in.

"It's looking very positive and exciting for the future."

Mrs Cairns said she is 'very proud' of how far the couple's business has come over the past two years.

"This business is like my baby," she said.

"We've put everything into this and really hope it works out.

"We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support over the past two years and look forward to welcoming you to our new shop."

The Eco Shop from 9am until 4.30pm Tuesday to Saturday.
