THOSE protesting the opening of a McDonald's in Ulverston have been branded 'NIMBYs'.
Construction work on the restaurant and drive-through site at Oubas Hill, which is scheduled to open in early December, is ongoing.
The new McDonald's is expected to create at least 65 full- and part-time jobs.
A McDonald's spokesman said 'at least three litter patrols a day' would be carried out by the restaurant team.
"All of our restaurant crew members are trained in how to dispose of litter effectively and provided with a litter patrol route to follow which includes details of any potential litter hotspots," he said.
Facts not feelings said: "If it was the historic and pretty town centre it would be a shame.
"However it's next to Texaco and Booths on an industrial estate on the edge of town. It will be a success."
guapo said: "Fine dining finally arrives in Ulverston."
YoYo said: "Can't wait, and looking forward to kfc being built next year."
Brand new said: "Another classic case of NIMBYism - Just like the Aldi you didn't want, which is now the busiest shop in Ulverston."
Dalton said: "If you build it, they will come."
Fake News said: "What's the point in having it on the outskirts of town? Ideally it should have been sited on Market Street to cater for families shopping in the town centre and for late night revellers at throwing out time!"
Not everyone was sympathetic to the fast food giant's arrival, however.
Shotover said: "Ulverston's noted for its antiquity and its uniqueness, who in their right mind would want to spoil this by a cheap junk food outlet!"
Some still has reservations.
Stoutollie said: "It's alright having bins outside the takeaway and litter patrols, but that's not where they throw the litter, it's down the lanes and on the main road when they chuck it out of the car window because they can't be bothered to take it home with them."
