A RAPIST who police described as 'dangerous' when he was jailed for ten years is on the run.

Kevin Anthony Wyatt, who also goes by the name of David Edge, lived at Egerton Court in Barrow when he was sentenced at Preston Crown Court in 2016.

He had been found guilty of two counts of rape against a female victim.

Both incidents of rape occurred at a property in Barrow on November 26, 2015.

At the time, Detective Constable Mel McBride, of the Public Protection Unit in South Cumbria, said: “Wyatt is a dangerous man who went to that address with the full intention of committing a sexually motivated attack and subjecting his victim to a harrowing ordeal."

Now, Lancashire Police have launched a manhunt to find him after he failed to returned to an approved premises.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We are appealing for information to find a sex offender wanted on recall to prison.

"Kevin Anthony Wyatt, also known as David Edge, 37, left approved premises in Accrington earlier this month and failed to return.

"Wyatt was handed a 10 year prison sentence for rape at Preston Crown Court in April 2016.

"He is described as white, 5ft 11in tall and of stocky build. He has a number of tattoos, including a cross symbol with the word ‘Grandma’ on his left arm, a tattoo of ‘2 GUNS’ on his back and a tattoo of a bird on his chest.

"Wyatt has links to several areas in Cumbria, including Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven, Carlisle and Dalton-in-Furness. He also has links to Blackpool and Worcester.

Police are very concerned following his disappearance.

Det Con Kyle Hazelaar, of Lancashire Police, said: “Wyatt is wanted on prison recall after failing to return to approved premises.

“He is considered a high risk offender and he should not be approached.
