IT'S "back to reality" again for one well-known shepherdess in Cumbria after her wedding.

Hannah Jackson - now Gallagher - better known as the Red Shepherdess said the sheep are once again keeping her on her toes after marrying farrier, Danny Gallagher on Saturday September 4.

However, Hannah said she was still on "cloud nine" after the wedding and "mini moon" to Scotland.

The couple met through their local cross-fit gym.

"We had been going to the same gym for about two weeks and then I was doing a competition in Portugal with the gym and I met him there.

"I met him on the beach and we were just best mates from then. We got together properly two years from then.

"He's not from Cumbria and I'm not from Cumbria, so we have both made this journey up here separately."

Hannah, who is originally from the Wirral said her decision to move up to Cumbria came after she saw a lamb being born in the Lake District.

She added: "That was a lightbulb moment for me. I wanted to be outside every day and work with animals every day. I thought that farming could give me all of this."

Despite not being from a farming background, Hannah established herself as a passionate and respected young farmer and recently won the Sheep Farmer of the Year award in the Northern Farmer awards.

Although Danny and Hannah, both 29, enjoyed their "off-the-grid" mini moon in Aberdeenshire - going fishing and enjoying days on the beach with the dog - the couple will be going to New Zealand next year to see family members who couldn't make it to the wedding.

On how Danny proposed to her, Hannah said: "The day before my birthday, we walked to the top of Dove Crag.

"I thought we were going up there for a birthday adventure - I thought we would sleep over in [Priest's Cave] and wake up there on my birthday.

"We walked right up to the top of the fell for sunset and he asked me then and there to marry him.

"Both of us cried. It was very emotional."

Hannah added that she felt lucky that she and Danny were able to marry without disruption caused by Covid-19.

On the wedding, Hannah added: "The day was just perfect and there were so many little personal touches that related to me and Dan completely.

"It went far too fast."
