HEAD out on a Night Time Wildlife Adventure next week with Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
Meeting at the Cumbria Grand Hotel car park in Grange-over-Sands at 6.30pm on September 16, participants will be walked through the woodlands of Brown Robin nature reserve with a knowledgeable Reserve Officer.
The destination for the evening is an under-canvas hide, positioned on the edge of the woods to overlook a badger sett – the den where they slumber during the day.
There will be benches to get cosy with blankets and cushions in preparation for wildlife-spotting.
Binoculars and night vision equipment will be available to use to catch badgers foraging, playing and exploring.
They will also use bat detectors to capture the sounds of bat calls – normally too high-pitched for humans to hear. Participants should also keep their eyes peeled for deer and foxes roaming through the undergrowth.
On the way back there will be a visit to the Woodland Workshop, gathering around the open fire for a bowl of steaming soup, toasted marshmallows and a mug of hot chocolate.
