A memorable day was had at Lindal Gala with a record turnout with people enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

On Saturday, September 4, on the green at Lindal, St Peter’s Church welcomed members of the community.

This years Gala made up for the disappointment last year when Covid cancelled the event with the bonus of three Gala Queens in attendance.

Grace Heap was the Gala Queen in 2019, Zara Clough who would have been Gala Queen in 2020 and Libby Powell who was the St Peter's Church Gala Queen at this years 2021 event all glammed up for the big day.

Grace led the procession wearing the Queen's crown and cloak, followed by Zara.

Libby completed the parade onto the Green with the assembled entourage, to be ceremoniously crowned.

One of the organisers, Shirley Glover, said: "After the Queen officially opened the Gala everyone circled, mingled and thoroughly explored the stalls and games on the Green.

"Strawberry teas in the Buccleuch Hall proved a quiet but scrumptious moment.

Shirley said "Thanks to the generosity, imagination and hard work of so many we raised £1222 for Church funds. This will help us to decorate the Church inside."
