A FAMILY has organised a fun-packed day of entertainment to raise money for charity in memory of their mum.

Sophie Moses, along with her brother Jonathan and dad Graham, have organised a charity event tomorrow (Sunday) to raise money for UK charity, Pseudomyxoma Survivor.

Sophie, 31, sadly lost her mum in April this year after a three-year battle with a very rare form of cancer called adenocarcinoma of the appendix

Since Sophie’s mum, Susan, passed away at the age of 58, her family and friends have been actively raising money for a UK charity called Pseudomyxoma Survivor who raise awareness and providing funding to research for Pseudomyxoma and appendix cancer.

One group completed the Three Peaks Challenge in June in memory of Susan and raised £10,400, and Sophie and her family are hoping to raise more at their event this Sunday.

She said: “Our most recent charity event will be a cricket/pizza/live music and raffle day this Sunday at Barrow Cricket club from 1pm onwards.

“We will have live performances from Jess Dandy, who I grew up and went to school with, and saxophonist Emma Howarth.

“We’ve also been inundated with raffle prizes and auction bits by local business and the community – we have signed England and Liverpool shirts.

“It’s a free event. Hopefully we can just raise even more for this charity from the kind generosity of the community.

“My family and I just want to say a massive thank you to every one who has already donated and to all the local businesses that have helped out in any way. It really means a lot.”

Jess Dandy, who grew up in Barrow and recently performed at this years BBC Proms, said Susan was an incredible woman.

She said: “She was an amazing women and basically kindness itself. She was so brave and so beautiful to the end really – she was the parent who was the permanent fixture and cheerleader for the school when we would play netball."

Jess and Sophie have known each other since they were three and attended Chetwynde school together.

Jess said: “We practically grew up together. We lived across the road we were like family.”

Jess also performed at Susan's funeral and was delighted to be asked to perform tomorrow.
