A TEMPORARY road closure is set to affect Cumbrian motorists next month.

Cumbria County Council announced on Wednesday a road closure will be put in place to allow Network Rail to carry out railway works.

The closure will be at Main Street’s junction with the A5093 in the Haverigg area.

The works are expected to commence on September 5.

The council say the works are anticipated to take three days to complete.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the A5093, Palmers Lane, Haverigg Road and Poolside.

Any queries relating to the closure can go through the Highways Hotline on 0300 303 2992 or email: TTRO.West@cumbria.gov.uk, quoting the reference CO21-193.

A full layout of the plans can be found on the Cumbria County Council website.
