BARROW AFC are set for another reunion with former manager Ian Evatt today as Bolton Wanderers travel to Holker Street for a pre-season friendly.

Saturday’s 3.00pm kick-off will give manager Mark Cooper another chance to test out his new squad and build match fitness.

Last time out, Cooper used 20 different players, as Barrow drew 1-1 against Birmingham City, and he will no doubt be wanting to replicate that rotation with just one pre-season game to go after today.

The Bluebirds will travel to Merseyside for their final friendly, ahead of their League Two opener against Stevenage, as they take Southport at Haig Avenue on July 31.

With AFC preparing for another season in England’s fourth tier, they will be facing a familiar opponent in today’s game.

Evatt left Holker Street after securing promotion to the Football League in 2020, as he penned a contract with then League Two team Bolton.

During his first season in charge at The University of Bolton Stadium, the 39-year-old added another promotion to his CV as The Trotters finished third.

The triumph marked the end of a dismal few years for Bolton fans, who saw their team slip through the Championship down to the fourth tier on the back of successive relegations.

Bolton's Amadou Bakayoko will be one to watch at Holker Street today.

A hard-working and physical front man, Bakayoko struck his first Trotters’ goal during their friendly win over Longridge Town and has been backed to prosper in Wanderers colours by Evatt.
