A MOUNTAIN biker suffered several injuries including a femur fracture in an accident in the Lake District.
The man came off his bike at Ickenthwaite, between Grizedale and Greenodd, on Tuesday.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) was notified of the incident at around 6.20pm.
A CMRT spokesman said: "Cumbria Police called us out and we dispatched two Land Rovers.
"Fortunately, the track was good and we were able to drive right to the casualty’s location.
"He was assessed, pain relief given, and then placed in a vacuum mattress (to stabilise the injuries for transport).
"He was lifted into our converted ambulance Land Rover and taken to our base."
The spokesman said the casualty was then transferred to a waiting ambulance.
Thirteen team members were involved.
