A former Dalton ARLFC player sadly passed away this week after a collision involving his Audi A3 and a double decker bus.
Travis Smith was only 20 when he tragically died after the incident in Halifax on Wednesday.
He briefly played for Dalton ARLFC after moving from Yorkshire, before eventually returning home.
Dalton ARLFC club secretary Ian Gordon said: “He was a nice lad. Most people say that when someone has died, but he really was a smashing lad. He played the game as you should, tough but not nasty.
“He settled back over in Yorkshire but he kept in touch with the lads. Sometimes people leave a club and you lose contact, but they never did with Travis. We have good memories and had good laughs. He was always a joker.
“It’s a young lad gone, it’s such a shame."
Dalton's U9s and U10s paid their respects to the player by holding a minute silence before their match on Friday.
