A CONSERVATION charity is asking members of the public to 'get creative' with rubbish collected during litter pics.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust (CWT) is encouraging people to create miniature sculptures of their favourite marine creatures using items they find discarded.

A spokesman for the charity said: "Want to help fight plastic pollution AND get engaged with marine wildlife?

"Head out on a beach clean or a litter pick with your friends and family, then get creative with your findings!

"Maybe you’ll make a basking shark out of a pop bottle, or a turtle out of an egg box, or let your creativity run wild and build a whole marine seascape!

"We’ll be sending out resources for craft ideas and litter picking guides for the event."

The spokesman said more details about the 'Litter Critters' competition would be revealed by CWT 'very soon'.
