READERS have voiced their opinion once again about the closure of Pandora in Barrow.

Mail readers gave their opinions after Barrow bid farewell to a popular jewellery chain on Wednesday, June 30.

Last Wednesday marked the last day of Pandora’s presence in the town’s Portland Walk after five years trading in the town centre.

It is the fifth shop in the shopping centre to close its door in the last year, following departures from department store Debenhams, confectioners Thorntons and fashion retailers Topshop and River Island.

However, readers have branded the jewellery store as 'mass produced stuff' which has 'had its time'.

Pat Shaw said: "No idea why anyone would collect this mass produced stuff, rather go for local designers, beautiful individual items."

Pam Edmondson said: "Regardless of the pandemic it probably would have closed.

"Pandora is fashion jewellery that has had its time.

"It's nice, but just not fashionable any more.

Linda Laing said: "A very popular brand but unfortunately not in Barrow where shops are scarce.

"Plus the pandemic wouldn't have helped.

"I don't own any Pandora products but to compare Ratners to Pandora shows they know nothing about jewellery items. Ridiculous."

Stephen Francis Murray said: "A mass-produced, modular female decoration system as far as I can see.

"It should continue to be sold in Wickes."

Jennifer Barnes said: "Will not be long before all shops are shut

Lynn Andrews said: "These shops cannot survive when there is nothing else up there."

Dawn Mckellar said: "Another nail in the coffin for Portland Walk/Dalton Road in Barrow."
