FANS who were disappointed not to get a table booked at Barrow Raiders beer garden for England's semi-final clash with Denmark in the Euros have been told to 'watch this space'.

This comes after tables sold out in around two minutes, crashing the Raiders' website in the process.

The roaring success of the beer garden and the atmosphere it provides for the Euro games has made this one of the go-to venue in the town.

Getting a table booking has been likened to getting a ticket to the Glastonbury Festival, which sold out in 34 minutes in 2020.

"We are considering a few different ways in which we could allow more fans to come in for the England game, but we have to make sure we can do it in a safe and Covid friendly manner before any final decisions are made," Raiders chairman Steve Neale said.

"So, fans should watch this space."

"Hopefully, this would mean we could allow a few more in.

"I think it has become so popular because of the atmosphere, as people draw in other people, and because of our capacity and how many come, that must be why we are one of the most popular venues.

"I am a big believer in crowds drawing in crowds, and this has had a positive impact on our match day crowds as well as we are seeing a big increase on that side of things.

"The sheer volume of traffic on the website is what caused the crash two minutes into them going on sale.

"I have not had the statistics on how many were on the site at the time yet, but it must have been a bigger number than last time.

"I thought that we would fill the tables when we first decided to do this for the Euros, but I never imagined we would be selling out in two minutes, it is like Glastonbury tickets, but obviously we don't have their capacity."

Mr Neale wanted to express his gratitude to the fans attending the events at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium for their good behaviour and sticking to the rules so well.

England will face Denmark in the semi-final of the Euros tomorrow with a kick-off time of 8pm.
