POLICE officers have been attending schools recently in order to try and prevent anti-social behaviour in youths in the south Cumbria area.

The police also informed the children in Cartmel Peninsula-based schools on what they do day-to-day and shared various safety messages.

A spokesman for Cumbria police in South Lakes said: “During the past month we have managed to carry out a few school visits delivering various safety messages and showing the children what we do.

“Patrols have also been carried out in areas identified as potential locations for antisocial behaviour and we are working with partner agencies to address any issues identified.

“We continue to address the concerns of vulnerable people in the area giving crime prevention advice and making them aware of scams.

“Residents are reminded to ensure that vehicles and tools are secured following the recent theft of two commercial vehicles from the area. Both incidents are still under investigation and thankfully one of the vehicles has been recovered.
