HIS Royal Highness Prince Charles is set to broadcast a show on Bay Trust radio this weekend, it has been confirmed.

The Prince of Wales has recorded his own show called ‘Music and Memories’ which is due to air on Bay Trust Radio on July 4 at 12pm.

The show is due to feature some of his favourite tracks from artists including The Three Degrees, Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand, and Edith Piaf.

John Williamson, station manager at Bay Trust Radio, said: “We are extremely excited to have him broadcast a show with us.

“This is the second time he has done a show with us, the last time being in 1980, and we are absolutely over the moon to have him come on to do a show thanking volunteers and hospital staff for all that they have done.”

In the programme the prince will highlight the work of volunteers from Bay Trust Radio for what they have done during the last year.

He explains that the role of hospital radio has been ever more important during the coronavirus pandemic with medical services being stretched, by provided an essential service to patients, staff, and families.

He will also reminisce on key life moments where music has played a significant role for him.

The stream can be listened to live inside Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Westmorland General Hospital, Blackpool Victoria Hospital, or on baytrustradio.org.uk, on smart speakers or on smart TVs .

The charity are due go onto digital radio in the not-so-distant future.

Not only that, but Bay Trust Radio has also won a £1,000 Movement for Good award from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group thanks to nominations from the public.

Bay Trust Radio is one of 500 winners in specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1million to charities this summer.

The money will be spent on purchasing equipment to help them continue broadcasting.
