READERS have scoffed at plans to ban junk food television adverts before 9pm.
The Government recently announced that junk food adverts are to be subject to heavier online restrictions and a 9pm television watershed from the end of next year.
Captain caveman75 said: “Just ban under 16s from fast-food shops, that would be better.”
Stuckinthemiddles said: “What will the result be on obesity? None, absolutely none.”
Christopher Wilde said: “How is that going to stop people buying junk food?"
Anthony Perkins said: “Parents will still give it to the kids, a barmy 9pm TV ad watershed for junk food won’t stop them!"
“Many parents don’t even make an evening meal, they just file them off to the nearest chippy or kebab / burger / pizza takeaway.”
Linda Hall said: “It’s not going to stop parents feeding the children junk food.
“In fact, there are a lot of children starting school now that can’t use — or don’t know how to use — a knife and fork as they’re just fed finger food!”
Laura Seward said: “Not gonna stop them ordering it though.”
Anthony Perkins said: “Yep Hungryhouse or JustEat app on a mobile or tablet or order directly via a laptop, smart tv or a home PC.”
John Buttriss said: “Can’t wait for Maccies to open in Ulverston, me.”
Ann Taylforth said: “Too many ads for delivery, Justeat, etc.”
