A BARROW sports team has caused a stir by mentioning two of the hottest words of the summer - Love Island.

A post on social media which read 'Bars and pubs should air Love Island just like they do football' was shared with a caption teasing that if it got 100 shares and 100 likes that Barrow Raiders would air the program on their big screen.

Barrow Raiders shared the tongue-in-cheek post to their own social media page, writing: "Is it really worth putting Love Island on the big screen? Can it really be popular enough to have a bev and watch love island?"

There was a huge response, with 249 reactions, 30 shares and 181 comments.

Steve Neale, chairman at Barrow Raiders said: “It was put up as a bit of a joke, but it has got a lot reaction to be honest. We haven’t got any plans, but maybe we will now considering the number of people who have viewed the post. I’m just surprised at the reaction it got – positive and negative. There are definitely some strong views either way. We might consider it. I know the show runs over a number of weeks, so maybe we will show the final.”
