READERS have reacted after Millom’s first electric vehicle charging points were installed this week.
W Milligan & Sons, a vehicle repair and service centre, has had two charge points installed at its premises in Foundry Road.
Jonathan Milligan, of W Milligan & Sons, said: “These will be free to use for paying customers when their car is in for work, and available 24/7 to the general public who can pay via their smartphone.”
HeheHaha said: “Free to use for paying customers. Is that free plus VAT then, or free including VAT?
“The charge points are compulsory policy from Ford. They are not welcomed by the small businesses that have been made to install them at great expense, and what they know is going to be a loss.
“More eco rubbish.”
Nosensenononsensen said: “Yeah, let’s consume and pollute our way to oblivion.
“I’m all right Jack, leave it to those pesky kids to sort out, or suffer the consequences.”
HeheHaha said: “Electric cars are dead in the water. They are inefficient, impractical and years away from being viable, if they ever will be.
“Virtue signalling and dancing around with daisies in your hair might make you feel better about yourself, but that’s about all it does.”
Mary on Saturday said: “That’s Millom sorted then.”
Furness Abbot said: “Can you charge a chariot?”
Nosensenononsense said: “If it has batteries and electric motor, of course you can.”
Geoff White said: “Abbey Road Co-op has had one for a while.”
