What is your favourite Lake District walk?

Maybe these are a few you may consider next time you're out in this beautiful part of the world.

1. Fairfield Horse Shoe

A stunning walk that sees thousands of visitors ever year. With a long and a short route to pick from it can offer any keen walker a day’s worth of adventure or just a pleasant walk in the afternoon.

2. Grizedale

The picturesque forest that is 24.47 km² area of woodland in the Lake District of North West England, is made up of a several hills, small tarns, and the settlements of Grizedale and Satterthwaite. A perfect for days out with the family, especially during summer.

3. Helvellyn

The mountain which is a must for any walker in the Lake District. Its highest point is a north–south line of mountains to the north of Ambleside, between the lakes of Thirlmere and Ullswater.

4. Wansfell

Another iconic fell walking route just east of Ambleside which should be on any walker’s list of places to visit. The route is part of the long southern ridge of Caudale Moor and occupies the swath of territory between Ambleside and the Troutbeck valley.

5. Orrest Head

A steep but rewarding walk which can provide you with the best view of Windermere, and the perfect place to watch the sunset in the evenings.

John Turnman said: “Orrest Head. Such an amazing view at the end of a tough climb. Worth it.”

6. Coniston Old Man

The popular fell walking route in the Furness Fells, this stands at 2,632.61 feet high, and lies to the west of the village of Coniston and the lake, Coniston Water.

James Barton said: "Coniston Old Man. First time I went there it become my favourite."

7. Gummer's How

The scenic hill walk with some of the best views in the area, Gummer's How may bring the best out of any walker and reward them with some incredible sights on the top.

8. Rydal

The Rydal walk near Ambleside includes some incredible views of the lake but can also include some adventures into the caves up there.

9. Ruskins View

The iconic view point named after English art critic John Ruskin includes a pleasant walk along the Kirby Lonsdale River and woodland that is popular among local residents.
