Furness Coastguard was called to the aid of a casualty on a beach at Haverigg today during a very busy week for the team.

The team was alerted at around midday on Wednesday, June 2 to assist Millom Coastguard Rescue Team with the recovery of the casualty to the awaiting North West Air Ambulance Service helicopter.

A Furness Coastgaurd spokesman said: "The team were paged at 11:58 today to assist Millom Coastguard Rescue Team at Haverigg with the recovery of a casualty from the beach to the awaiting North West Air Ambulance."

The spokesman added that Wednesday's incident had been the seventh consecutive day of emergency callouts for the team and wished the casualty 'all the best'

The spokesman added: "If in any danger around the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
