A RESCUE team is urging the public to check tide times before heading to the beach.
Millom Coastguard Rescue Team were called to Eskmeals on Sunday after it was reported that up to eight people were in danger.
A spokesman said: "Team tasked to Eskmeals by Belfast Coastguard following reports of up to eight persons in danger of being cut off by the incoming tide.
"St Bees RNLI and Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team were also alerted.
"Persons managed to reach safety prior to the arrival of SAR units.
"Always check the tide times when venturing out onto the beach, and always be aware of your surroundings. "If you see anyone in danger dial 999 and ask for Coastguard."
