A LIFEBOAT that has saved people's lives in Morecambe Bay for 12 years has finished its service.
On Thursday, Morecambe RNLI volunteers said goodbye to 'Margaret Mary Timpany' as it was replaced by a new lifeboat called 'Brenda Raworth'.
Rescuing people in Ulverston and Grange, Margaret Mary Timpany was first used by Morecambe Lifeboat Station in November 2009.
Named after Dr Margaret Mary Timpany following a generous bequest, the vessel is a D class lifeboat D-722.
Brenda Raworth is a new D Class lifeboat D-885 and was donated by Ronald Raworth in memory of his wife, Brenda.
The new lifeboat was called out two hours after arriving at the station to help a kayaker in trouble.
