A TEENAGE boy who made more than three thousand indecent images of children will be sentenced later this week.

The 15-year-old, who lives in Dalton but cannot be identified for legal reasons, has previously admitted 15 charges relating to the images.

He has also pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing ‘grossly offensive’ pornographic images of an act of intercourse with animals, according to court records.

He is due to be sentenced at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He appeared at youth court in March but sentencing was adjourned so a pre-sentence report could be prepared by the probation service.

This is an impartial report that gives the sentencing judge an idea of the defendant's background and the most suitable punishment for the offence committed.

It is written with the seriousness of the offence in mind, as well as the suitability to carry out particular types of sentences.

He admitted making 1346 category A images of a child, 1005 category B pictures and 1422 category C photos.

He also admitted distributing 25 indecent images of children, two charges of possessing prohibited images and eight further charges of making images.

The other three charges he admitted were possessing images involving extreme pornographic images which portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person performing an act of intercourse with a dog.

Court records said the pictures were grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that any such person or animal was real.

All the charges date between January 1, 2019 and October 10, 2019.

He will be sentenced on the morning of May 21 at the Youth Court sitting in Barrow.
