OUTDOOR pursuits are something synonymous with the Lake District and is great way to enjoy your time in the county whether you're after a fun day out or maybe even to start a glittering career as a kayaker.

Visitlakedistrict.com describes the experience as 'heart racing' as the bridge gets its name because you cannot see the other end. Strung across a breath-taking gorge high up on the mountain, 2,000 feet above the valley floor, the Infinity Bridge is the longest of this type of bridge in Britain.

If water-based action is more your fancy then there is plenty on offer in the region as well, as it is not called the Lake District ironically with 16 bodies of water.

Lake Windermere is a popular spot with options of kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, canoeing, and even hiring a boat at pretty much any location that sits next to the water.

Continuing with the wet theme is Ghyll Scrambling in Wasdale with Adventure Vertical. Whatever you want to call it, whether it is a descent or ascent or a splash down the river, it’s a buzz. Ranging from small groups in steep wet gorges involving roped ascents, to the fun of group set challenges.

When hitting the mountains, if hiking up and down them has become too mundane, maybe climbing up a cliff face or abseiling down one might be the option for you and Adventure Vertical will have plenty of options on offer.
