AN ADMIN error has caused confusion regarding a Barrow high street shop.

Yesterday, there was advert listed on estate agents Peill & Co’s website stating that the building where Ryman Stationery is currently housed was available to let.

On the same week that Debenhams finally closed its doors in Barrow, there were now fresh concerns that the Ryman would follow suit.

However, Ryman Stationery has confirmed that it has renewed its lease for the building, but did not say how long the lease will last.

The stationery giants also said they have no current plans to close its shop on Barrow’s Dalton Road.

Peill & Co, based in Kendal, later said the advert was a mistake and caused by an administrative error.

They say the the details for the advert, which said the building would cost £20,000 per annum, were from a previous listing a few years ago.

The company say they have just opened a new website and believe the advert was transferred from its old website.

It is not known how long the advert was on the website for, Peill & Co said.

Ryman is currently owned by former Dragons' Den star Theo Paphtitis.

The 61-year-old is the owner of Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue as well as Ryman.

There are over 200 Ryman stores in the UK.

Their first shop was opened in October 1893 by its founder Henry Ryman.

The Great Portland Street Ryman shop is still there in London today.
