A SHARE of a £25,000 grant will be given to MIND in Furness and Dazzle for Children in Barrow courtesy of the Cadent Foundation.

The charities received the funding after being voted for by Cadent employees and customers across the region.

More than 1,000 customers took part in the voting process with MIND in Furness being awarded £3,000 and Dazzle for Children in Barrow receiving £1,000 as runner up.

Chief Officer for MIND Karen Dobson said: “This grant from the Cadent Foundation is greatly appreciated as like many charities all our income streams have been decimated by COVID. We are mindful given our work that the long-term effects of this pandemic are now impacting significantly on our communities’ mental health and wellbeing and will do for years to come.”

Dazzle for Children organiser Teresa Dixon, said: “Thank you for your most welcome donation. This will enable our organisation to provide much needed outdoor sports equipment for our children and young people as part of their wish list.

“The items we will be able to purchase due to receiving this fantastic grant will enable our children and youth clubs to have a variety of sports items to enjoy.”
