CUMBERLAND SAUSAGES

No surprises that the Cumberland sausage is a firm favourite among readers, with readers expressing a particular preference for Walsh’s Butchers Cumberland sausages.

Bronya Hetherington said: “Their Cumberland sausage is the best.”

Heather Gress said: “Walsh’s Cumberland sausage is the best I’ve ever tasted.”

The Filling Station also attracted praise: “Some of Rebecca Richard Dickinson’s Cumberland sausage goes down very well.”

Sian Dixon also recommended the Cumberland sausage from Boundary at Currock.

CUMBERLAND TATIE POT

Reader Sandra Roberts recommended this popular Cumbrian staple recipe saying: "I recommend tatie pot made with breast of lamb (lap), black pudding and root vegetables.

“My family always cut the potatoes into large chunks, not thinly sliced like a Lancashire hotpot.

“I could just eat it now with some pickled red cabbage on the side.”

“We had tatie pot last week. Beautiful, you can’t beat it,” Elaine Hadwin added.

CRAFT ALES FROM ENNERDALE CRAFT BREWERY, CHAPEL ROW, ROWRAH

The brewery is given the thumbs up by reader Patrick Holt.

It does a range of core and seasonal beers and is sold in places throughout west Cumbria.

Steve Wharton said: “Ennerdale Brewery – not only do they have consistently great beer and stand as wonderful ambassadors for what we can produce in Cumbria, but they also work hard at being part of the community.”

CUMBERLAND SPICY GIN

This tasty local gin attracted praise from readers.

Darren Todd said: “I’ll be drinking Cumberland spicy gin from Chestnut House, it’s amazing.”

Another reader added: “Great shop, even greater staff.

“Everything you need, particularly if you like alcohol. Very dog friendly too.”

XL CHEESE FLAVOUR POTATO CRISPS

Readers Caroline Everingham and William Wilson are big fans.
