CREWS were called out to a fire involving a van on the M6 southbound this afternoon.

Firefighters from Kendal, Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale attended the incident around one-mile north of junction 36.

The van had been transporting a motorcycle.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the driver managed to get the bike, undamaged, out of the van before crews arrived.

The spokesman said there were no injuries and the cause of the fire remained unknown.

Highways England managed the traffic while crews extinguished the fire.
