A MAN has been jailed for ten months after perverting the course of justice by pretending to be someone else.

Timothy Jason Baker, of Duke Street, Askam, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at Preston Crown Court on Friday.

The court was told that on Tuesday, March 2, in Swarthmoor, Baker impersonated another person in an attempt to evade the correct application of justice, which had a tendency to pervert the course of justice.

The 29-year-old was sentenced to ten months in prison for perverting the course of justice.

Baker was also sentenced to four weeks in prison after pleading guilty to driving whilst disqualified.

The court heard that on Tuesday March 2, Baker drove a Renault Clio on the A590 in Swarthmoor whilst disqualified from obtaining or holding a licence.

He was sentenced to four weeks in prison to be served concurrently alongside his ten-month sentence.

Baker also pleaded guilty after he was caught driving over the drink-drive limit in Swarthmoor on the same day.

The court heard Baker had 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, which is over the legal driving limit of 35 microgrammes.

Baker was handed a 45-month ban for driving with excess alcohol in his system.

He also pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and driving without insurance

He was given no separate penalty for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
